In what could flare up as another face off between the Centre and the Delhi government, the Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday alleged that Chief Minister Atishi was forcefully evicted from her official residence at 6, Flagstaff Road in Civil Lines.

The chief minister’s office also put out a statement, saying Lt Governor Vinai Saxena gave the direction to remove Atishi’s belongings at the behest of the BJP.

"For the first time in the history of the country, the Chief Minister's residence was vacated. At the behest of the BJP, the Lt Governor forcibly removed Chief Minister Atishi's belongings from the Chief Minister residence," the CMO said.

It further alleged that there was a plan to allot the bungalow to some important BJP leader.

Earlier in the day, the AAP alleged that officers were not allotting the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow to Atishi due to BJP's pressure, even as it was vacated by her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal.

Atishi had moved with her belongings to the bungalow on Monday. It was occupied for over nine years by Kejriwal who vacated it after resigning as chief minister.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh alleged that the BJP has been unable to win assembly polls in Delhi and it is now trying to "usurp" the bungalow of the chief minister.

The opposition BJP, meanwhile, accused Atishi of illegally occupying the  bungalow and urged the Public Works Department (PWD) to seal it.

Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta said Atishi had already been allotted AB-17 bungalow on Mathura Road.
