Air India flight lands safely at Trichy airport after circling mid-air due to technical snag

Over 140 passengers were onboard the Sharjah-bound flight

An Air India flight bound for Sharjah made an emergency landing at Tiruchirappalli airport on Friday after it developed a technical snag mid-air.

According to officials, the pilot had detected the technical issue after departure.

The flight, AXB 613, has 144 passengers on board. The aircraft, reportedly, had a hydraulic failure after it took off from Tiruchirappalli.

All passengers were safe.

The aircraft has been circling over Trichy airspace for over an hour to burn off excess fuel before attempting a safe landing.

Ambulances and rescue teams were on standby as the aircraft made the emergency landing. “Over 20 ambulances and fire tenders are placed at the airport as a precautionary measure,” said an official.

According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the flight landed normally and the DGCA is monitoring the situation.
