Reckless Audi driver kills food delivery executive, injures 3 in Pune

A food delivery executive died in the early hours of Friday in Pune after a 34-year-old reckless driver rammed his Audi car into the two-wheeler. The driver also dashed against another two-wheeler and injured three persons.

According to police, the deceased food delivery executive was identified as Rauf Akbar Shaikh. Ayush Tayal (34), was a senior executive at a private firm in Pune and during the early hours of Friday, Tayal dashed his Audi car against Shaikh’s two-wheeler, injuring him severely, police said.

The accident happened near Tadigutta in the city's Mundhwa area and Tayal fled from the scene soon after the incident.

A senior police official said, before hitting the delivery executive’s bike, Tayal had dashed against another two-wheeler and injured three persons. 

Pune Additional Commissioner of Police, Manoj Patil said the incident happened around 1.30am on Friday and Tayal fled from the scene after the incident. “After hitting the bike, the accused fled from the spot. He did not help the victim. Police arrested him within a few hours,” Patil said. He added prima facie, it seems Tayal was intoxicated while he was behind the wheels and they are probing.

Police tracked down Tayal using CCTV footage. Police have booked him under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Motor Vehicles Act.
