Hitting back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remark, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday alleged that the BJP was a "party of terrorists". PM Modi in his recent marks said that the grand old party is run by a "gang of urban Naxals".
Kharge's remark had sparked a row with BJP criticising Congress over the remarks.
The Congress president had said that the BJP is a party of terrorists that lynches and assaults people and commits atrocities against tribals and Dalits.
"They call intellectuals and progressive people 'urban Naxals', they call the Congress urban Naxals...when BJP itself is a party of terrorists," said Kharge. It is not right for a PM to make such remarks, he added.
Kharge also said that wherever the BJP government is in power, atrocities are committed against people from Scheduled Castes, especially tribals.
Responding to Kharge's remarks. BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said Congress is the 'most anti-Dalit party'.

He also hit out at him saying, that Congress's identity is insulting people.
"Crores of people voted for the BJP in 2014, 2019 and now in 2024. This is an insult to the people's wisdom but the Congress has made it a habit," said Poonawalla, reported NDTV.
He added that Kharge was accusing people of having elected terrorists. "They have always used this kind of language abusing PM Modi and other Backward Classes...now they are abusing people."
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari also slammed Congress and said if there is any government that has zero tolerance for terrorism and corruption, it is the BJP.
