Haryana: BJP Legislature Party meeting likely on Oct 16; Amit Shah, Mohan Yadav appointed observers

The BJP parliamentary board has appointed Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav as central observers ahead of the  Legislative Party meeting in Haryana.

The saffron party is all set to form government in the state for the third term in a row after pulling off a comfortable win in the recent assembly elections. BJP secured 48 seats in the 90-member assembly while the opposition Congress managed to bag only 37.

According to reports, the BJP Legislature Party meeting is likely to be held on October 16 and the swearing in of the new government will take place on October 17.

Incumbent Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is likely to continue in the top spot while discussions are underway to decide the deputy chief minister.

Senior leaders Anil Vij, Krishan Lal Midha, Shruti Chaudhary, Arvind Kumar Sharma, Vipul Goel, and Nikhil Madan are likely to be inducted into the cabinet. 

Quoting sources, ANI reported that the party has asked all its newly-elected MLAs to stay in Chandigarh on October 16 and 17. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Dussehra Ground in Sector 5 at 10 am.

"We have received the nod of the Prime Minister that on October 17, in Panchkula, the Chief Minister and council of ministers will take oath,” Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar told reporters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior BJP leaders and chief ministers of theNDA-ruled states are expected to attend the event.

Joshi, Chugh appointed observers for J&K

Meanwhile, the BJP appointed Union Minister Prahlad Joshi and BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh as observers  to elect the legislature party leader in Jammu and Kashmir.

The party secured an all-time high of 29 seats in the Union territory even as the National Conference emerged as the single largest party with 42 seats. NC’s alliance partners Congress and CPI(M) have won six seats and one seat respectively.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also opened its account by winning Doda seat.
