Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, 66, was shot dead by three attackers on Saturday, following which two of them were arrested.
The arrested duo hails from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The third suspect is absconding.

To mark Vijaya Dashami, Siddique was bursting firecrackers outside his son's office in Kher Nagar in the heart of Mumbai around 9.30 pm when the three gunmen came out of their vehicle and shot him using a 9.9mm pistol. Three rounds of fire were shot at Siddique and police have recovered six empty bullet shells from the spot.
After he was shot in the chest and stomach, Siddique was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he succumbed to bullet wounds.
The former minister had received a death threat 15 days before the shooting following which he received Y category security.

Reports have suggested that they are from Lawrence Bishnoi gang but there is no official confirmation regarding this. Siddique was close to actor Salman Khan who also received threats from the gang. The actor visited Lilavati Hospital to meet leader's family.
The veteran leader had quit Congress in February ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and joined Ajit Pawar's NCP. Siddique was a three-time MLA from Bandra West while his son Zeeshan Siddique is currently the Bandra East Congress MLA.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar also visited the hospital to meet Siddique's family members.
