Mumbai police make fourth arrest, recovers one more weapon three days after Baba Siddique’s murder

Fourth accused helped shooters with money and other logistics. Two of the shooters were employed at his scrap shop

Mumbai police have arrested one more person in connection with the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. The accused hails from Bahraich and was working as a scrap dealer in Pune. Meanwhile, police have also recovered another weapon near the site where Siddique was shot dead.

According to police, the fourth accused, Harishkumar Balakram, was involved in the conspiracy to murder Baba Siddique. Balakram was arrested from Bahraich and he was fully aware of the crime, Mumbai Crime Branch police said.

Police said two of the three shooters - Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap and Shivkumar Gautam – worked at Balakram’s shop and he arranged money and other logistics for the shooters. Gautam is still on the run. According to police, Balakram bought new mobile phones for the shooters.

Earlier, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested three persons including shooters – Haryana resident Gurmail Baljit Singh and Uttar Pradesh native Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap – in connection with the murder of the NCP leader Baba Siddique. The third accused, co-conspirator Pravin Lonkar, was arrested from Pune.

Police had earlier arrested Haryana resident Gurmail Baljit Singh, Uttar Pradesh native Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap, both alleged shooters, and 'co-conspirator' Pravin Lonkar from Pune. It was Pravin’s brother Shubham Lonkar who tweeted on social media claiming responsibility for Siddique’s murder by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Crime Branch has recovered another weapon from the crime scene. Mumbai Crime Branch recovered this weapon from under the rear tyre of a car parked some distance away from Zeeshan Siddiqui's office, ANI reported. Police said the car was completely covered with a curtain and was parked near the crime scene for the past several days. 

The veteran Maharashtra politician was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan Siddique's office by three shooters allegedly belonging to Lawrence Bishnoi's gang. Allegedly, the Bishnoi gang targeted Siddique due to his close relationship with Bollywood actor Salman Khan, another celebrity on the gang’s hit list.
