A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his two minor stepdaughters with the support of his mother in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad. The accused was held after the mother of the two teenage girls approached the police with a complaint on Thursday.

According to the UP Police, the complainant is the second wife of the accused. She married the man after legally getting separated from her husband with whom she had two daughters.

In the complaint lodged at the Kavinagar police station, the woman accused her husband of sexually abusing both her minor daughters from her previous marriage, news agency PTI said in a report. She also mentioned that the man was supported by his mother for abusing the two girls in the past six months.

The woman found her husband raping her younger child, aged 14, at their house on Wednesday. To the horror of the woman, her other daughter also revealed that the man used to sexually assault her. Like her sister, the 16-year-old said that their stepfather threatened her with dire consequences if she ever told anybody about the rape.

The following day, the woman reached the Kavinagar police station in Ghaziabad with a complaint. She added that her mother-in-law knew that her son was sexually abusing the minor girls but was supportive of his actions.

Confirming the development, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kavinagar) Abhishek Srivastav told the press that the accused had been arrested by the cops after registering a case against him under the relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Srivastav said.
