This comes after sources suggested that the killers had plotted to kill Zeeshan too. He is currently the Congress MLA from Bandra West.

On Friday, the lawmaker had met Maharashtra deputy CM and home minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the murder of his father.

Zeeshan also shared a cryptic post on X, saying, "Not all that is hidden sleeps, Nor all that is visible speaks." Earlier, he urged everyone not to politicise his father's death and sought justice for his family.

Baba Siddique was fatally shot outside Zeeshan's office in Bandra on October 12 when he was bursting crackers on the occasion of Vijayadashami.

At least nine people have been arrested in the case so far. Five of them were nabbed during raids on Friday. Shubam Lonkar, who is believed to be the main accused in the case, claimed that Lawrence Bishnoi gang was responsible for Siddique's assassination and that he was killed due to his close ties with Salman Khan.

A suspected member from the Bishnoi gang has demanded Rs 5 crore from actor Salman Khan to resolve the conflict with the gangster, threatening that if the the payment was not done, Salman will have a fate worse than that of Siddique. The dispute is reportedly due the the 1998 blackbuck poaching case wherein Salman is accused of killing two blackbucks. Blackbucks are sacred to the Bishnoi community and Lawrence Bishnoi vowed to seek revenge against the actor though the case is still in court.

Salman Khan's father Salim Khan, however, said his son does not have to apologise as he has not killed any blackbucks.
