Since 2017, the UP Police has taken action against 77,811 criminals and removed 1.08 lakh loudspeakers from religious places, besides the anti-Romeo squad running a successful campaign.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on the occasion of Police Smriti Diwas (Remembrance Day).
The state police’s record since the BJP came to power includes the successful prosecution of 68 cases against gangsters and mafia and sending 31 mafia heads and 66 associates to life imprisonment. Two death sentences have also been handed out. The police have seized property worth Rs 57 crores from these criminals.
The state’s anti-Romeo squad has conducted checks at 1.02 crore places between arch 22, 2017, and October 2, 2024. Under this action has been taken against 3.68 crore people. 23,375 cases have been registered by the squad and 31,517 people have been prosecuted while 1.39 crore offenders have been let off with a warning.
The state now also has officers on the women beat and women's help desk at all thanas. Across the state, 15,130 women police personnel have been deployed while 10,378 have been given the women's beat.
Under Operation Trinetra- a push to increase surveillance throughout the state, 11.71 lakh CCTV cameras have been installed.
The CM announced a number of sops for the police- this includes a corpus fund of Rs 1,380 crores and an increase of 70 per cent in the uniform allowance. Rs 10 crore has been given for training and diet of sportsperson police personnel.
A financial assistance of Rs 36.20 crore has been provided to the dependents of 115 martyred police personnel of Uttar Pradesh working in the Central Paramilitary Forces and police services while performing their duties. An amount of Rs 3.50 crore has been set aside to better the living conditions of police personnel in the districts. Rs 30.56 lakhs have been announced for the settlement of 266 claims of medical reimbursement for serving and retired police personnel and their dependents. Similarly, Rs 12.60 crores has been given for 312 cases of medical reimbursement of more than five lakh.
