Mumbai-Kolkata Shalimar Express derails in Maharashtra’s Nagpur

No casualties have been reported; railway says it’s making every effort to take the passengers to their destinations.

Two coaches of the LTT-Shalimar Express heading from Mumbai to Kolkata derailed near Kalamna station in Maharashtra's Nagpur district on Tuesday afternoon. No casualties have been reported.

According to railway officials, four wheels of the parcel van and four wheels of a coach of the train derailed when it was crossing over to Kalamna line from Itwari line around 2 pm.

"Train no 18029 CSMT Shalimar Express two coaches of the train S2 and a parcel van got derailed near Kalamna station near Nagpur. No passenger was injured in this incident. There is no information about any loss of life in this incident," said Dilip Singh, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) South East Central Railway.

He said the railway administration is making every effort to take the passengers to their destinations. Efforts to restore the derailed coaches are underway.

The railway has launched a helpline and is providing basic facilities to the passengers.
