The National Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet against Gurpreet Singh, an associate of Khalistani terrorists Rinda and Landa in a Punjab terror conspiracy case in a Special Court in Mohali. Gurpreet Singh, aka Gopi, from Punjab's Tarn Taran is allegedly an activist of the banned terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

According to the NIA, investigations have established his role in a BKI conspiracy to unleash terror in Punjab and other parts of the country.

Who is Gurpreet Singh?

According to the NIA chargesheet, he is an associate of foreign-based Individual Designated Terrorists Harwinder Singh Sandhu aka Rinda and Lakhbir Singh aka Landa of BKI. Gurpreet was involved in the RPG attack on Police Station Sarhali in December 2022.

The investigation revealed that he had remained in contact with his foreign-based handlers from jail and even after his release from jail in that case. The chargesheet also accuses Gurpreet of conspiring to raise funds for BKI and its operatives in India through large-scale extortion from businessmen. This was carried out on the directions of Lakhbir Singh @ Landa.

He also recruited vulnerable youth for the BKI terror module and additionally carried out a recce of the targets identified by Landa. He allegedly made attempts to eliminate those targets.

The NIA had also seized an illegal weapon from the accused’s house during a search operation in January this year. Gurpreet has been charged under various sections of UAPA, IPC and Arms Act.
