Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma. Subramanian, on Tuesday, condemned YouTuber Irfan for posting a video of him cutting the umbilical cord of his newborn child inside a hospital's operation theatre.

Subramanian said Irfan violated the medical regulations and that the government will not shield anyone against the law.

"Irfan entered the operation theatre and cut the umbilical cord of the newborn which is a clear breach of medical protocols. This government will not shield him. We will go by the law," the health minister said while speaking to the media at Madurai. The minister said a complaint has been registered against him and police action will be taken against the YouTuber.

The health department has issued a legal notice to Irfan and has also sought an explanation from the private hospital which allowed him to cut the umbilical cord.

Irfan is a popular Tamil YouTuber who does shows with VIPs like DMK MP Kanimozhi, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and Governor R.N. Ravi. Irfan had earlier posted the video of a prenatal scan done on his wife. He had done the scan in Dubai and posted a video of it on his social media page where he has a huge number of followers. Such scans, as per law, are prohibited in India and Irfan had made an apology for releasing the video. His apology was accepted as the scan was done in Dubai.

However, this time around as the video was shot inside the operation theatre of a private hospital in Chennai, the minister said it will not be taken lightly.
