The CBI which investigated the scam chargesheeted Sail, who owns the Mallikarjuna Shipping Corporation involved in the scam, and a forest officer Mahesh Biliye and others. They were charged with criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, trespassing, and corruption under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
