J&K: Two militants killed in Anantnag; encounter on in Srinagar

Two militants were killed in an ongoing encounter in the Larnoo area of South Kashmir's Anantnag district on Saturday.

The operation was launched by police and security forces after receiving specific intelligence about the presence of militants in the area. The encounter is still underway.

Reports suggest that one of the militants was a foreigner and the other a local.

Earlier in the day, an encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the Khanyar area of downtown Srinagar, while a cordon-and-search operation was on, following a tip-off.

A video of the encounter shows a drone hovering over the suspected hideout.

This encounter follows the attack on two non-local labourers from Uttar Pradesh in Budgam on Sunday evening. The labourers were injured and are currently under treatment.

Militant attacks have increased in Jammu and Kashmir since the recent swearing-in of the Omar Abdullah-led NC-Congress government.
