The forthcoming Mahakumbh in which an estimated 40-45 crore devotees are set to participate will give employment to some 45,000 families, as per Uttar Pradesh state tourism department. In addition, it will boost tourism not only in Prayagraj but also in Kashi, Ayodhya, Mathura and Vindyavasini Dham.

Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath has directed that the facilities and security measures at these places be constantly reviewed and brought up to the mark for the state to benefit from the event and for devotees to carry back a good impression.

In a review meeting he emphasized that the Mahakumbh was a huge opportunity for the state.

To ensure a good experience for visitors, the state’s tourism department is currently training various service providers—including tour guides, boatmen, street vendors and drivers—whose services will be offered during the Mahakumbh. The training is underway at Lucknow’s Manyavar Kanshiram Tousism Management Agency and at Prayagraj.

This is part of the overall push to tourism that has been given by the state’s tourism policy of 2022. The aim of the policy is to provide 10 lakh people with employment and invest Rs 20,000 crore in the sector.

This will also be the first Mahakumbh in which the temporary tent city will show up in Google maps for navigation. This is a recognition of the massive cultural and spiritual significance of the Mahakumbh.

An MoU has been signed between Google representatives and the Maha Kumbh Mela Authority recently.

Vivek Chaturvedi, ADM Kumbh Mela said, “This is the first time ever that Google has allowed navigation for a temporary structure”. The map will allow users to navigate through sites, akharas, camps and temples in the entire fair grounds.

The state government is constantly monitoring the planning and implementation for Mahakumbh and so far 11 meetings of the apex planning committee have been held.
