Two teachers of a Kanpur NEET coaching centre were arrested for the alleged rape and blackmail of a minor student, reports said. The survivor, who is an adult now, came forward after one of the accused was arrested after his sexual assault of another girl was caught on CCTV camera.
According to the UP Police, the girl, who was a minor then, was raped and blackmailed for many months by the two men, who are reputed NEET tutors in Kanpur. The complainant enrolled with their institution in 2022 to prepare for the NEET Medical entrance.
The accused were identified as 32-year-old Sahil Siddiqui and 39-year-old Vikas Porwal. Siddiqui's sexual advances towards another student were captured by a CCTV camera recently, which led to his arrest. This development gave the girl the courage to open up about her struggles, news reports said.
According to the minor girl, Sahil Siddiqui sexually abused her for the first time in January 2024. The biology tutor encouraged her to attend a party thrown at his house for the students. When the unsuspecting girl showed up at his residence, she found none there except for Siddiqui, who managed to get her drunk and rape her. She told the UP Police that the man recorded the act and used it to blackmail her for many months.
Threatening to harm her family, Siddiqui summoned the girl to private places and sexually abused her many times. He warned the girl that he wouldn't hesitate to release the video on the internet if she ever spoke about his advances to anyone.
The accused even used to make the girl return early from her family during holidays using such vicious tactics, NDTV said in a report. She was forced to attend parties held by him and it was during one such gathering that she was raped by Vikas, the other accused. Held hostage during one of Siddiqui's parties, the complainant was sexually assaulted by the man who used to be her mathematics teacher, the girl reportedly told the cops.

However, the girl finally gathered the courage to reach the police with a complaint after she was convinced that it was possible to get the men booked under the law. Siddiqui had received bail in the other case when the girl reached the cops with a fresh complaint against him, reports said.
The duo were arrested on Friday after a first information report (FIR) was registered, NDTV said.
