Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said that the ruling BJP had forced an election upon Kanpur and that its loss was a foregone conclusion.
Former UP chief minister Yadav was campaigning for his party candidate Naseem Siddiqui who is fighting because her husband Irfan Solanki- the former MLA from Sisamau is in jail.
That Naseem is just a stand-in was made clear by Yadav himself who said that she was a lady who had never appeared in public but was now being forced to fight the election because the BJP had falsely accused Solanki. He has been convicted of setting fire to a widow’s house.
Yadav also drew attention to the Supreme Court’s ruling on bulldozer action and said that it was now time for these machines to be housed in garages. He said it was unprecedented that the apex court had made such a decision against a state government and also fined it Rs 25 lakhs. “There can be no greater comment against a government”, he said.
While decrying the BJP’s slogans, he also mentioned a study made by a foreign university that those who thought negatively lived shorter. “Negative politics will be defeated by the voice of PDA. Ours is positive politics”, he said.
Akhilesh Yadav said that the BJP was scared for it was set to lose all nine seats in the by election. He also mentioned Milkipur (Faizabad) saying that the chief minister had visited the constituency thrice and also kick started projects, yet the party’s internal surveys had revealed that the BJP would lose and thus postponed the election.
“This is your election. You will make the BJP lose”, he told the crowds.
The Samajwadi Party president also drew attention to the protests against the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission wondering why the government was unable to give any jobs and was only offering excuses. “The ayog (commission) has become ayogya (useless)”, he said.
Yadav also said that the BJP would lose in Maharashtra and this result would impact UP as well.
