With the second phase of Jharkhand assembly elections scheduled to take place on November 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jamui in neighbouring Bihar on November 15 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary celebration of tribal icon Birsa Munda.
Modi’s visit to Bihar is significant as it is likely to send a message to tribal voters in Jharkhand ahead of the polling. The BJP has been actively wooing the tribals to win back the state from the JMM-Congress alliance government.
In Bihar, Modi will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 6,640 crore aimed at uplifting tribal communities and improving infrastructure in rural and remote areas of the region. He will also participate in the grih pravesh of 11,000 houses built for the tribals apart from launching other key projects including 300 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) to promote tribal entrepreneurship, 10 Eklavya Model Residential Schools.

Modi’s Bihar visit would come within a gap of one day. He visited the state on November 13 to inaugurate several health related projects. His visit coincided with the polling in four assembly seats in the state. The result of these bypolls will be declared on November 23.
Apart from the immediate messaging on the day of polling in Bihar and Jharkhand, it also sends out a strong message within the state which will go to polls next year.
Bihar is important for BJP’s scheme of things as it feels, being the larger party within the NDA grouping, it should have its own CM. The party cadre’s morale will get a boost with the PM's high profile visits. As Modi sends out political messages even during the official programmes, they help the party in its growth and messaging within the state.
Inaugurating several projects on Wednesday which included AIIMS in Darbhanga, Modi sent a political message when votes were being polled in neighbouring Jharkhand for the first phase. “Today marks the first phase of voting in the neighbouring state of Jharkhand. The people of Jharkhand are casting their votes to realise the vision of Viksit Jharkhand (Developed Jharkhand). I appeal to all voters in Jharkhand to come out in large numbers and exercise their right to vote.”
In Darbhanga, Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple development projects worth Rs 12,100 crore.
