The deadly Innova-truck accident at Dehradun's ONGC Chowk that claimed the lives of six youngsters on Tuesday happened after the victims, all students, decided to spend the night together.
According to latest reports, Siddhesh Agarwal, the sole survivor of the crash, decided to host his friends at home after his family left for a marriage in Jaipur. The youngster decided to use most of his "home alone" time by throwing a party of his close friends.
Meanwhile, Atul Agarwal (24), decided to go to Siddhesh's house in the new vehicle purchased by his father. Since the Toyota Innova is spacious enough to carry six or more people, the friends decided to go for a late-night ride which ended in tragedy.
Had any of these events didn't occur, the horrific crash that shocked Dehradun could have been avoided.
After the friends present at Siddhesh's house finalized the plan to drive to the city, Kamakshi (20) and Guneet (19), who were not attending the party, were picked up on the way, India Express said in a report. Both of them, along with their friends Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goyal (23), Kunal Kukreja (23) and Atul, died on the spot.
Siddhesh remains critical at Synergy Hospital after sustaining serious injuries in the accident. His father Vipin Agarwal told the police that he had spoken to his son at around 9 pm on the night before the incident, the Indian Express report said. The collision at ONGC Chowk, which reduced the car to a mangled wreck, occurred around 1.30 am.
