Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s younger brother Anmol Bishnoi, who is wanted in India in several high-profile cases, has been arrested in the US, reports claimed on Monday.

His arrest came days after Mumbai Police Crime Branch began the process for his extradition, following a non-bailable arrest warrant issued by a Maharashtra court.

According to an NDTV report, the 50-year-old was arrested earlier today.

Anmol is a suspect in the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in April. He is also accused of being instrumental in the murder of  Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022.

Moosewala was killed just eight months after Anmol was released on bail from Jodhpur prison, where he was serving jail term for his alleged involvement in multiple criminal cases.

Probe agencies have also linked him to the killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique last month with the investigators claiming that he had provided both logistical and financial support for the attack. Officials also alleged that Anmol was in contact with the three gunmen via Snapchat despite being abroad.

He is currently facing 18 criminal cases in India and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a bounty of Rs 10 lakh for him. Authorities say he is involved in planning attacks on various Bollywood celebrities.

Anmol went missing after Moosewala’s death and was believed to have escaped India on a fake passport. However, it was not clear which country he took shelter in, with some reports suggesting that he was managing the Bishnoi gang’s affairs from Canada.

Some reports even suggested that Anmol was spotted in Kenya last year and he has since then changed his location multiple times.

Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in a jail in Sabarmati in Gujarat.

Both the Bishnoi brothers had been named in an FIR registered by the NIA in August 2022 for being part of a conspiracy to "raise funds, recruit youth to carry out terrorist acts in the Union Territory of Delhi and other parts of the country" besides "targeted killings of prominent persons".
