Baba Siddique murder case: Man who offered financial support to accused arrested

The Maharashtra Police, on Friday, arrested a man in connection with the murder of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique on October 12.

This is the 26th arrest that the police made in the case. Sumit Dinkar Wagh is accused of transferring money to Nareshkumar, brother of arrested accused Gurmail Singh, as well as arrested accused Rupesh Mohol and Harishkumar.

Wagh transferred money from an account in Karnataka Bank's Petlad Branch in Gujarat's Anand district, the police said.

"He transferred the money online using a SIM brought in the name of arrested accused Salman Vora," a police official said.

"The money was transferred on the instructions of wanted accused Shubham Lonkar, who hails from the same tehsil as Wagh and the two are close friends. They were collegemates in Akot. Salman Vora, a resident of Petlad in Anand, was held recently from Balapur in Akola," the official added.

Siddique was shot dead by three assailants outside his son MLA Zeeshan Siddique's office building in Bandra East2. He sustained two bullet injuries on his chest and was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he passed away.
