Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi thanked the voters for the INDIA bloc’s grand victory in the Jharkhand Assembly polls. He hailed the victory in the election as one for the protection of natural resources and the Constitution.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi thanked the voters and said, “Heartfelt thanks to the people of Jharkhand for giving a huge mandate to INDIA. Hearty congratulations and best wishes to Chief Minister Hemant Sorenji, all the workers of the Congress and the JMM for this victory.”
Highlighting the importance of the victory, Gandhi said, “This victory of the alliance in the state is a victory for the protection of water, forest and land, along with that of the Constitution.”
While the performance of the INDIA bloc was dismal in Maharashtra Assembly polls, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led alliance in Jharkhand won by a landslide. The ruling alliance won in 56 seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party-led alliance won in 24 seats. The ‘Adivasi’ plank by the JMM seemed to have outsmarted the BJP campaign which mainly focused on driving out Bangladeshi "infiltrators" from the Santha Parganas region.
