Maharashtra election results live: Eknath Shinde, Fadnavis race ahead; Amit Thackeray leads in debut battle

As the early results began to trickle in, both Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis have an established lead. Shinde is contesting from Kopri-Pachpakadi while  Fadnavis is the Mahayuti candidate from Nagpur south west. 

Ajit Pawar too is head in Baramati against his nephew Yogendra Pawar.

Debutant Amit Thackeray, son of MNS chief Raj Thackeray, too is racing ahead of Shiv Sena (Shinde) leader Sada Sarvankar in Mahim. Amit's cousin Aaditya Thackeray too is leading from Worli.

While Congress chief Nana Patole was trailing from Sakoli, the latest update is that he has gained a lead. Early trends aren't very rosy for NCP (SP) leader Jitendra Awhad who is trailing from the Mumbra - Kalwa seat.  

Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Sunil Raut is leading in Vikhroli while Congress leaders Balasaheb Thorat, Vijay Wadettiwar and Vishwajit Kadam are reportedly behind in the initial round.
