Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India is going through a huge phase of transformation and that the Constitution is showing us the path. Speaking at the Constitution Day celebrations in the Supreme Court, Modi said India’s Constitution has lived up to our every need and expectation.
Modi claimed that the Constitution has been fully implemented in Jammu and Kashmir, in an apparent reference to the abrogation of Article 370.
"Our Constitution has lived up to every expectation and need of the country. It's due to the power of the Constitution that, today, the Constitution of Baba Saheb has been implemented completely in Jammu and Kashmir. For the first time, the Constitution Day was celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

The prime minister said the Constitution is serving as a guiding light for the people as India is going through a transformation phase.
“Today, India is going through a huge phase of transformation, and the Constitution of India is showing us the path. It has become a guiding light for us,” he said.
Modi touched upon the 2008 Mumbai terror attack and reiterated that the terrorist groups challenging India’s security will get a befitting reply.
“We cannot forget that today is also the anniversary of the terror attack in Mumbai. Those who lost their lives, I pay my homage to them. I also want to reiterate the resolution of the country - all those terrorist organisations challenging the security of India will get befitting reply," he said.
The prime minister recalled the words of India’s first president Rajendra Prasad that India does not need anything more than a group of honest people who will keep the country's interests above their own.
"This sentiment of 'nation first' will keep alive the Constitution for centuries to come," he said.
