Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal faced a security scare on Saturday after a man splashed some liquid on him during his ‘padayatra’ in south Delhi.

The man, identified as Ashok Jha, was swiftly overpowered by security personnel and taken to the local police station.

The former CM was walking with his supporters and greeting people in Malviya Nagar when Jha approached him and splashed the liquor.

The AAP targeted the Centre over the security situation in Delhi and said the national capital was facing a complete breakdown of law and order under “BJP’s rule”. The Delhi Police functions under the Union Home Ministry.

"If a former chief minister is not safe in the national capital, where will the common man go?,” the party asked in a post on X.

The BJP hit back, saying Kejriwal has started doing his “old tricks” with an eye on upcoming Delhi assembly elections.

"Arvind Kejriwal's every political strategy has failed. Now he will return to using his old tricks, in which he is slapped and ink is thrown at him. A similar thing happened today. Arvind Kejriwal should tell himself what new game he started today," Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said.

He added that the BJP had never taken the path of threats or violence in political campaigns.
