After Cylone Fengal made landfall on the Tamil Nadu coastal region, heavy rain resulted in a landslide in Tiruvannamalai district on Monday. The neighbouring Kerala is also reeling from heavy rain as schools were shut in several districts of the state.
Seven members of a family whose house was destroyed in the landslide in Annamalayar hills were recovered on Tuesday early morning. These include a couple and five children.

A boulder fell on the house around 4.30 pm on December 1 and four of bodies were recovered from the site on Monday.
Extremely heavy rainfall was reported in Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Villupuram and Chengalpettu. Several roads have been damaged and power supply was disrupted in Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi and Tiruvannamalai.

Around 48 trains passing through Villupuram were delayed until evening on Monday. Transport to Yercaud has been halted due to landslides. Coimbatore and Nilgiri were also issued heavy rain alerts till Tuesday.
Four deaths in Puducherry
The Union territory of Puducherry also reported four deaths in rain-related calamities. Light to moderate rainfall was predicted for the territory on Tuesday.
Red alert in 4 Kerala districts
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of heavy rainfall until December 7 in Kerala because of Cyclone Fengal. The low-pressure area in northern Tamil Nadu is expected to pass through northern Kerala and southern Karnataka on Tuesday.
District collectors in Alappuzha, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kasaragod have declared holidays for educational institutions on Tuesday.
Red alert have been issued in northern districts of Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Malappuram while central districts of Palakkad, Thrissur, Idukki and Ernakulam were issued orange alerts. Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts were issued yellow alert.
Heavy to moderate rain in south Karnataka
IMD predicted heavy rain in southern Karnataka districts, issuing yellow alerts for Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara, Kodagu, Mysuru, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi. Moderate rain is predicted for Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Tumakuru and Chikkaballapura.
