In his first order after assuming charge as the Maharashtra chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis approved a monetary assistance of Rs 5 lakh for a patient awaiting bone marrow transplant.
The assistance from the chief minister’s relief fund was sanctioned for Chandrkant Shankar Kurhade, a resident of Pune.
Kurhade's wife had sought help from the chief minister's relief fund for her husband's treatment. According to reports, Fadnavis put his signature on the file before he chaired the first cabinet meeting.
In another order, the newly sworn-in CM directed the administration to expedite work processes and operate with increased vigour. He also directed officials to prioritise sustainable development while making key decisions.
"The first decision I signed today was to allocate Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for a bone marrow transplant. The overwhelming mandate we've received carries a weight of expectations and a significant challenge to meet them. Fiscal discipline will be crucial as we implement our ambitious plans," Fadnavis said in his maiden press conference after taking oath as CM.
Fadnavis took oath as the chief minister while Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar as deputy CMs at a grand ceremony held at the sprawling Azad Maidan in Mumbai this evening.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, NDA chief ministers, and party leaders attended the event besides thousands of supporters.
