Fortifying the Shambhu border, Haryana police stopped the farmers’ 'Delhi Chalo' march again at the border on Sunday. Police fired tear gas shells to stop the ‘jatha’ of 101 farmers to Delhi over various demands including Minimum Support Price for crops.
The farmers resumed their march at noon on Sunday. Police forces barricaded the Shambhu border and had fixed nails on the road to stop the vehicles of farmers from proceeding towards the national capital. Anticipating stiff resistance from police, the farmers were also equipped wearing goggles and masks.
Haryana police said the farmers were moving ahead as a mob and they would allow the protesters to proceed once their identity cards are verified. "We will first identify the farmers and then we can allow them to go ahead. We have a list of the names of 101 farmers, and they are not those people, they are not letting us identify them; they are moving ahead as a mob,” said a police official deployed at the border.
However, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said they are ready to cooperate with the protests and ready for any sacrifice to achieve their demands. “We have already issued the list, if police have decided that they will check the IDs first before allowing us to move, they should tell us, we will cooperate with that. We have shown the discipline and will continue to be so,” ANI reported quoting Pandher. He added either prime minister should provide a solution for their problems else they will continue their march to Delhi.

Another protesting farmer said, "The police are asking for identity cards, but they should give a guarantee that they would allow us to go to Delhi. They say that there is no permission to go to Delhi, then why we should give the identity cards. We will give identity cards if they allow us to go to Delhi," PTI reported.
Farmers under the banner of Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) have resumed the Delhi Chalo march on various demands including a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price for crops. The farmers had to suspend their march on December 6 after a few farmers suffered injuries in the police action.
