The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday alleged Sonia Gandhi was part of a Soros-funded organisation which backed the policy of independent Kashmir. According to the BJP, Sonia Gandhi was the co-president of the Forum of the Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation and it is linked to an organisation financed by the George Soros Foundation. The BJP charged, “FDL-AP Foundation has expressed their views that treat Kashmir as a separate entity.”
The ruling party alleged Sonia Gandhi’s association with an organisation that backed the idea of ‘Independent Kashmir’ is concerning and it “expresses the influence of foreign entities on India's internal affairs and the political impact of such connections”. However, the United States has rejected the allegations against its State Department.
The BJP’s accusations come as the opposition is protesting in the Parliament demanding discussions on indictment charges against Gautam Adani in a bribery case in the US.
