Total money to be spent on land acquisition is calculated to be Rs 4,164.16 crore of which 1,285 crore which has been given now is the first installment. The investment model that has been agreed on is a partnership wherein the development authorities will match the government grant. The second installment will be released only after a certificate of completion is released at the 75 per cent mark.
The two big plans in Lucknow that will come up under this are the IT city and the Wellness City. The seed capital offered for these townships is Rs 197.85 crore and Rs 206.85 crore respectively.
These developments should be viewed within the state government’s emphaisis on urbanisation.
Among the goals of the state’s Township Policy of 2023 is to make available affordable and good quality housing and open the way for new, private players. All civic complaints in these new townships shall go to the city’s development authorities. Two kinds of townships- those with a population below five lakh and those with above that number will be taken up for development under the policy.

On the other hand, the state has also initiated investment by foreign countries to set up townships around the newly opened Jewar Airport, Noida. South Korea and Japan will be setting up residential townships near the airport on 365 and 395 hectares respectively. The government hopes this area will emerge as a hub for semi-conductors too.
Americans are also setting up a 1,200 acre township which has schools, colleges and cultural institutions.
