On completion of one year of his government, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that better utilisation of the state’s rich resources was bringing prosperity to the lives of farmers, women, youth and the poor.
CM Mohan Yadav also spoke of making former Prime Minister Atal Bihar Vajpayee’s dream of interconnecting rivers to eliminate the water crisis in many parts of the country come true. He said that all complexities that lay in the path of connecting the Ken and Betwa rivers had been ironed out. The project shall be initiated on Vajpayee’s birth anniversary- December 25.
While this project will benefit 11 districts of MP and UP; the state government is also in the final stage of connecting rivers, Chambal-Kali Sindh-Parvati, with Rajasthan. Another important project was the re-charging of the Shipra River.
The CM also recounted the government’s commitment to farmers. These include- a bonus of Rs 125 per quintal on the purchase of wheat and the purchase of soybean at Rs 4,892 per quintal. Land-related matters are being tackled by greater use of e-services. Farmers's incomes were being promoted through animal husbandry for which the government has signed an agreement with the National Dairy Development Board.
Yadav said that the economic, social and political empowerment of women had been the priority of his party. The government had given 35 per cent reservation to women in government jobs and this is the highest anywhere in the country. The government has deposited more than Rs 19212 crore in the accounts of 1.29 crore sisters under the Ladli Behna Yojana. He also took on critics who had said that the scheme would not run for long.
Another focus group was the young for whom the government has started PM Excellence colleges in all 55 districts. These colleges have been equipped with modern teaching systems and arrangements have also been made to get students to the college. To provide better employment opportunities to the youth, the government is setting up industry corridors and industry conclaves are being organised in every division.
His government, Yadav said, was in the process of providing government jobs to 2.5 lakh youth of the state, while about three lakh youth will get employment opportunities in the industries to be set up in various divisions. Given the importance of agriculture in the state, BSc Agriculture courses were being introduced in all universities and in select PM Excellence Colleges.
