Several former bureaucrats and activists have moved a plea in the Supreme Court seeking an urgent listing of plea against Yati Narasinghanand’s ‘Dharam Sansad’ in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad this week. The petitioners sought contempt proceedings against Uttar Pradesh police for not initiating suo motu case against Yati Narasinghanand for hate speech.
Hearing the plea, a bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar asked the petitioners to send an email seeking urgent listing. The chief justice said, "I will consider. Please send an email.”
Yati Narsinghanand Foundation is organising the 'Dharam Sansad' from Tuesday to Saturday at the Shiv-Shakti temple complex in Ghaziabad's Dasna. Appearing for the petitioners, advocate Prashant Bhushan said Yati Narasinghanand had made an open call for the genocide of Muslims and the Uttar Pradesh administration failed to move against him despite the apex court’s directions regarding hate speech in 2022.

The petitioners sought contempt proceedings against the Ghaziabad district administration and the Uttar Pradesh police for their "willful and deliberate contempt" of the orders of the Supreme Court by which it had directed all competent and appropriate authorities to take suo motu action against individuals or groups indulging in communal activities and hate speeches, PTI reported.
The petitioners said the advertisements for the Sansad by the foundation contain communal statements. “The website and the advertisements for this Sansad include several communal statements against the followers of Islam, inciting violence against Muslims,” they accused.
An earlier 'Dharam Sansad' organised in Uttarakhand's Haridwar courted controversy due to alleged hate speeches. Criminal prosecution was initiated against several persons, including Yati Narsinghanand and others, in that connection.
