After opposition's protest over Union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks on BR Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday clapped back Congress played dirty tricks to obliterate the Dalit leader's legacy.

Listing the "sins" of Congress against Ambedkar, Modi alleged that the party got him defeated in the elections twice and the Jawaharlal Nehru campaigned against him. He added that the Congress denied him a Bharat Ratna and a portrait in the Parliament's Central Hall.

Modi took to X, saying the Congress is mistaken if the party thinks their "malicious lies" can hide their misdeeds.

"The people of India have seen time and again how one Party, led by one dynasty, has indulged in every possible dirty trick to obliterate the legacy of Dr Ambedkar and humiliate the SC/ST communities," the PM posted.

Modi's post comes after the Congress slammed Amit Shah over his remarks on Ambedkar. The home minister said the Congress made it a fashion to take Ambedkar's name, adding that if they had taken God's name so many times, they would have got a place in heaven.

Following this Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi hit back at Shah, saying those who believe in Manusmriti will be at odds with Ambedkar.

Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha slammed Shah, saying he has proven once again that the BJP and its ideological parent RSS were against the tricolour. "...Their forefathers opposed the Ashok Chakra and... the people of the Sangh Parivar wanted to implement Manusmriti instead of the Constitution of India from the very first day," he said.

Calling for Shah's resignation, Kharge said the home minister insulted Ambedkar and the Constitution. "His ideology of Manusmriti and RSS makes it clear that he does not want to respect Baba Saheb Ambedkar's Constitution," he added.
