Two weeks after a woman was killed in a stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the premiere of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule', officials revealed that her injured eight-year-old son continues to be critical.
Sri Tej has suffered brain damage due to lack of oxygen during the stampede and is currently on ventilator support. This was revealed by Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand and Telangana Government Secretary Dr Christina who visited KIMS Cuddles Hospital, Hyderabad on Wednesday.
A health bulletin released by the hospital said the boy's neurological condition has not been showing any signs of improvement. Doctors said Sri Tej needs a prolonged course of treatment.
The boy, who has been admitted to Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of the hospital, needs mechanical ventilation with minimal oxygen support, stated the hospital.
The doctors are said to be planning a tracheostomy to wean him off the ventilator. They said it will take a while for the brain to develop the capacity to analyse signals.
Allu Arjun who was released on bail in the stampede case posted on Instagram that he is deeply concerned about Sri Tej. "Due to the ongoing legal proceedings, I have been advised not to visit him and his family at this time," he said.
"My prayers remain with them and I remain committed to taking responsibility for addressing the medical and family needs. I wish him a speedy recovery, and I look forward to meeting him and his family at the earliest," the actor added.
