The Mahayuti government has decided on the long-pending portfolio allocation and the BJP gets to keep all major ministries, according to a report. The final approval of the portfolios will reportedly be done in the next 24 hours.

The BJP will keep the Home and Revenue portfolio despite Shiv Sena's demand for the same, reported local media ABP Majha. Ajit Pawar's NCP will get to keep Finance as he wanted. Shiv Sena will have to make do with Urban Development and Housing.

The Shiv Sena's list has reached the Chief Minister while the NCP will give its list on Wednesday. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will present the list of complete portfolio allocations to the Governor in two days.

While Fadnavis would keep the Home Department with him, the Excise Department, held by Shiv Sena in the earlier government, will go to the NCP. The BJP has also decided to give the Housing Department to Shinde.

Ajit Pawar got a better deal by retaining Finance. The NCP will also get the Women and Child Welfare portfolio and Aditi Tatkare will be the minister.

Raw deal for Shiv Sena?

Despite Eknath Shinde's insistence on keeping the Home Department and Revenue, the BJP was not willing to hand over both. Fadnavis ensured that the Home portfolio would remain with the BJP under any circumstance. Though there were speculations that the party would give Shinde the Revenue Department, BJP succeeded in keeping it as well.

There were also rumours that the BJP would keep finance and give Pawar another department. But, Pawar managed to get what he wanted and the Excise department too.

Complete list

The BJP will keep the Home, Revenue, Public Works, Tourism and Energy departments. Shiv Sena will get Urban Development and Housing while NCP gets Finance, Women and Child Development and Excise duty.

Now that the portfolio distribution is almost done, what is left is the allotment of district Guardian ministers. However, CM Fadnavis said that it is not an urgent matter and it will be dealt with in due course.
