On Saturday, reports claimed that Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena has granted sanction to the Enforcement Directorate to prosecute former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case linked to the excise policy scam.
However, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party dismissed these reports and demanded that the central agency show a copy of the L-G’s letter. The party alleged that the reports were an attempt to divert people’s attention from the Ambedkar controversy in which the Bharatiya Janata Party is on the defensive.
"Reports of ED getting prosecution sanction (against Kejriwal) are false. Had the LG granted prosecution sanction, why isn't the ED showing its copy," senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia asked. Sisodia, too, is an accused in the excise policy case.

Chief Minister Atishi said in a post on X that the BJP should stop such “conspiracies”.
"If the LG has granted prosecution sanction against Arvind Kejriwal, why does the ED have a problem in making its copy public?,” she asked.

Sanjay Singh, another senior AAP leader, too dismissed the reports, saying the L-G had not granted any sanction to prosecute Kejriwal. He also dared the ED to make public if they have received any letter from the L-G in this regard.
The L-G’s office has not made any official statement on the matter, but sources in the ED told news agency PTI that it is yet to receive the sanction to prosecute Kejriwal.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED in March this year. He was granted an interim bail by the Supreme Court on July 12 in the ED case, while the apex court released him on bail in the CBI case on September 13.
Both the CBI and the ED alleged in their chargesheet that the Delhi government had committed irregularities and extended undue favours to licence holders while modifying the excis
