NCP unhappy? Why Pawar snapped at journalists who asked about portfolio allocation

NCP had sought Revenue, which the BJP decided to keep with it

Ajit Pawar

Though NCP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Pawar managed to keep Finance and got Excise, which was with Shiv Sena earlier, the BJP chose to ignore its demand for the Revenue department. Ajit Pawar had reportedly asked for three plum portfolios, including Revenue, Excise and Finance.

Speculations are that NCP isn't thrilled about the portfolios, as evidenced by Pawar's gesture of snapping at a journalist when asked about portfolio allocation. The incident reportedly happened in Thane accompanied by MLAs Amol Mitkari, Rajesh Vitekar and Pratap Patil Chikhlikar.

As soon as Pawar got out of the car, he was surrounded by party workers and journalists. When the journalists questioned him about the distribution of ministerial portfolios, Pawar was seen getting angry. He reportedly snapped at the journalists, asking them to "shut up".

Portfolios with NCP

While Ajit Pawar got Ministry of Finance and State Excise, Hasan Mushrif was given Medical Education.

Others in the Cabinet include Dhananjay Munde (Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection), Aditi Tatkare (Women and Child Development), Manikrao Kokate (Agriculture), Babasaheb Patil (Cooperatives),

Narhari Jirwal (Food and Drug Administration), Dattatray Bharane (Ministry of Sports and Minority Development) and Makarand Jadhav (Relief and Rehabilitation).
