Punjab police, Uttar Pradesh STF gun down 3 Pak-sponsored Khalistani terrorists involved in Gurdaspur grenade attack

In a joint operation, Punjab police and the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police gunned down three suspected members of the Pakistan-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force during the early hours of Monday. The Pakistan-sponsored militants were allegedly involved in the Gurdaspur grenade attack.

The militants were killed in an encounter at Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning and the police recovered several arms and ammunition from them. The deceased militants were identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23) and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18) and all three hail from Gurdaspur.

According to police, two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols and a huge cache of ammunition were seized from the militants. Amitabh Yash, Additional Director General (Law and Order), Uttar Pradesh Police confirmed the trio was involved in the Gurdaspur grenade attack. “The three sustained serious injuries in the encounter and were immediately rushed to CHC Puranpur for treatment. The three suspects later succumbed to their injuries,” Yash told PTI.

Punjab police chief Gaurav Yadav said it was a major breakthrough and the terror outfit was involved in attacks on police establishments in Punjab’s border areas. "In a major breakthrough against a #Pak-sponsored Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) terror module, a joint operation of UP Police and Punjab Police has led to an encounter with three module members who fired at the police party,” the Punjab police chief tweeted.

He added the terror module was involved in the grenade attacks at police establishments in border areas of Punjab. “The encounter has taken place in the jurisdiction of PS Puranpur, Pilibhit, between the joint police teams of Pilibhit & Punjab and the three module members are involved in the grenade attack on a police post in #Gurdaspur,” Yadav said. The DGP said further probe to unveil the entire terror module is underway.
