Security agencies have started a massive probe to identify local helpers of slain Pakistan-sponsored Khalistani terrorists who were recently gunned down in a joint operation by police of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Senior police officials said security forces are alert and conducting a probe to identify local helpers of the three terrorists killed in Pilibhit. Bareilly Range IG Rakesh Singh said police and intelligence agencies are keeping vigil following the threats. "Investigations are underway, and security measures have been intensified in the border areas. Action will be taken against anyone who is found to have helped the terror elements," Singh said.

In a joint operation, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh police recently gunned down three members of terror outfit Khalistan Zindabad Force at Pilibhit on Monday. The deceased militants were identified as Gurvinder Singh (25), Virender Singh alias Ravi (23) and Jaspreet Singh alias Pratap Singh (18) and all three hail from Gurdaspur. The militants were allegedly involved in the grenade attack on a police establishment in Gurdaspur. Police also recovered two AK-47 rifles, two Glock pistols and a huge cache of ammunition from the militants.

Punjab police chief Gaurav Yadav termed it as a major breakthrough against a Pakistan-sponsored terror module. Yadav said further probe is underway to unveil the entire terror module. Following the incident, security agencies, including the police and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), have intensified surveillance in the Puranpur region.

IG Singh said that the border is under strict surveillance and that there is strong coordination between the police and the SSB to stop infiltrators from crossing the border.
