J&K CM Omar Abdullah holds public outreach programme to address concerns of people

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a public outreach programme at the Raabta office on Thursday, engaging with delegations and individuals from across Kashmir. The event served as a platform for citizens to voice their concerns and seek administrative solutions.

Delegations representing sectors such as education, healthcare, labour, and artisanship met with the chief minister to present their issues and propose actionable solutions.

The J&K College Teachers Association requested the chief minister to consider raising the retirement age for college faculty, emphasising the need for continuity in academic expertise.

The Kashmiri Shawl Makers Welfare Foundation highlighted the challenges faced by traditional artisans and appealed for government support to preserve the shawl-making trade.

A group of Hot Mix Plant owners raised industry-specific concerns and sought administrative intervention to address operational difficulties. The J&K Casual Labourers United Front called for enhanced welfare measures for casual labourers. Physiotherapists also met with the chief minister, seeking resolutions to issues affecting their profession.

Representatives from the Health Workers Welfare Association voiced concerns regarding healthcare professionals, while the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) urged the government to formulate a comprehensive strategy to improve the welfare of government employees.

Contractors involved in the Saubhagya scheme, particularly from Ganderbal and South Kashmir, expressed concerns about project delays and requested government intervention to expedite the process.
Beyond delegations, individuals approached the chief minister with personal grievances and suggestions, seeking assistance on various issues affecting their lives.

Traders from prominent markets in Srinagar, including Lal Chowk, Hari Singh High Street, Poloview, Regal Chowk, Maisuma, and Court Road, submitted a memorandum of demands. They called for initiatives to revitalise business hubs, enhance infrastructure, and increase footfall in the city’s commercial areas.

Abdullah assured all stakeholders that their genuine concerns would be addressed promptly, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to resolving issues with patience and diligence.

The public outreach programme highlighted the administration’s dedication to responsive and inclusive governance by directly engaging with citizens and addressing their concerns.
