Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party, accusing it of trying to stop the 'Mahila Samman Yojana' launched by the Aam Aadmi Party government.
Kejriwal’s reaction came after Lt Governor V.K. Saxena ordered a probe into the scheme under which eligible women will get Rs 2100 per month.
He said the L-G ordered a “sham” investigation at the behest of the BJP. "We announced Rs 2,100 per month to all eligible women in Delhi under Mahila Samman Yojana and free treatment of the senior citizen under Sanjeevani Yojana, after forming government in Delhi. What are they going to enquire?" Kejriwal asked.

"What is there to investigate? We are not collecting any money. We are only asking people who wish to avail of these schemes after the elections to come and register. In the name of this investigation, they want to shut down these schemes that haven't even started yet,” he further alleged.
The AAP convenor claimed that long queues had formed everywhere after the AAP started the registration process, which showed the schemes were beneficial to people.
"The BJP was panicked and lost sleep over it. They sent their goons to the camps where registrations were happening and tried to dismantle the camps. They also sent police, who also tried to dismantle them," he said.
He further warned the people of Delhi that if the BJP came to power, they would schemes like Mahila Samman Yojna, Sanjeevani Yojna, free electricity and bus rides for women.
The L-G’s office has ordered an investigation against private persons for allegedly collecting personal details of women in the name of the Mahila Samman Yojana. The inquiry was ordered based on a complaint by Congress leader and party's New Delhi Assembly seat candidate Sandeep Dikshit.
"Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor has desired the Chief Secretary to get an inquiry conducted through Divisional Commissioner in the matter of collection of personal details and forms by non-government people,” said a letter by LG's principal secretary.
Claiming that the alleged canvassing happened ahead of the elections, the L-G said he may bring the matter to the knowledge of the Election Commission.
