Amid the Aam Aadmi Party’s allegations of electoral roll manipulation by the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of Delhi Assembly elections, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Sunday accused the saffron party of trying to get his wife's name deleted from the voters list.
Singh, a senior AAP leader, addressed a press conference along with his wife Anita Singh to allege that BJP was trying to delete the names of Purvanchalis from the electoral roll of Delhi.

Singh and Anita belong to Purvanchalis who are people from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar settled in Delhi for decades. They form a significant chunk of voters in the national capital.
The couple are voters in the New Delhi constituency represented by former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Singh alleged that the BJP wanted to teach him a lesson because he had raised the issue of Purvanchali voters being removed from the voters list in Delhi.
"They (BJP) ran a campaign to delete the name of voters from the list. They think that let's teach a lesson to Sanjay Singh. What they have done - the New Delhi constituency from where Arvind Kejriwal is the MLA, they (BJP) gave an application to delete the name of my wife - Anita Singh from the voter list, and not just once but twice - on December 24 and 26,” he said.
Singh’s allegation came after Kejriwal, the AAP national convenor, alleged that applications were filed for deletion of over 5,000 votes in New Delhi since mid December.
He charged there is a significant spike in applications for deletion and addition of voters in New Delhi seat in recent days.
"In my New Delhi assembly constituency - their (BJP) 'operation Lotus' has been going on since December 15. In these 15 days, they have filed an application for the deletion of 5,000 votes and the addition of 7,500 votes. Why there is a need to conduct elections if you are manipulating approximately 12% of total voters in the assembly? A kind of 'game' is being going on in the name of election," Kejriwal had said.
The BJP, however, hit back saying the names of Rohingya and Bangladeshi people illegally staying in Delhi were added to the voters list at the AAP's behest.
