A jilted lover killed himself in front of a girl’s house in Karnataka’s Mandya after the teen’s family rejected his marriage proposal. The deceased took the extreme step after he came to know the girl’s family was planning to get her married off to another person.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Ramachandra (21) and hailed from Kalenahalli village in Mandya. Ramachandra was in love with a minor girl from the neighbouring village. Recently, police arrested Ramachandra and was detained under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after he eloped with the minor. He also spent three months in prison as an under-trial.

On release from prison, Ramachandra got into a compromise with the girl’s family and the case against him was refuted in court. However, he continued to contact the teen girl. According to police, Ramachandra was upset with the decision of the girl’s family to get her married to another person once she attained legal age.
On Sunday, Ramachandra reached the minor girl's house and detonated the gelatin stick he carried with him, police said. Ramachandra succumbed to the blast injuries on the spot itself, they said. According to police, the deceased’s family was into quarry business and that’s how he managed to get access to the explosive. Police have registered a case based on a complaint from Ramachandra’s family and further probe is underway.
