The newly appointed Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the security situation in the state amid fresh tensions in the region. Bhalla urged cooperation among forces to maintain law and order.
Senior police officials, CRPF, BSF and Assam Rifles officials were present for the meeting.
"The Governor of Manipur chaired a security meeting at Raj Bhavan in Imphal," an official release by Raj Bhavan read.
"Taking stock of the prevailing law and order situation, the Governor reviewed the security apparatus and its arrangements throughout the state, with a particular focus on border areas," it said.
The Governor directed the DGP to prioritise the safety and security of the people and urged officers from the Army and paramilitary forces to extend their fullest cooperation to the administration in maintaining law and order in the state.
Bhalla, a former union home secretary, took oath as the 19th governor of Manipur on Friday.

Amid fresh clashes in Manipur this week, a tribal body in the Kuki-Zo inhabited areas of Manipur on Wednesday imposed an economic blockade as a protest against the alleged action taken by security forces on women in a village of Kangpokpi district.
Though the economic blockage was supposed to end on Saturday, the tribal body extended the protest due to “failure” on the government’s part. Vehicular movement and transportation of essential commodities through the Kuki-Zo inhabited areas were hit due to the blockade.
A clash broke out between a mob led by Kuki-Zo women and security forces in Kangpokpi district on Tuesday, triggering fresh tension in the state.
According to Henlienthang Thanglet, the tribal body's chairman, the Kuki-Zo council will intensify the protest if the women injured in the alleged baton charge by security forces on December 31 were not compensated.
Also, the Superintendent of Police in Kangpokpi district was injured after a mob attacked his office on Friday evening. The failure to remove central force from Saibol village bordering Imphal East district was alleged to be the reason behind the attack.
Several police personnel and protesters suffered injuries in the clash between the security forces and attackers.
