Reiterating the 'aapda' remark, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday accused Delhi's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of wasting a decade fighting with the Centre.

PM Modi made the remarks after he inaugurated the RRTS project in Delhi.

While addressing a rally in the Rohini area, Modi urged the people to vote for BJP and he vowed that no public welfare scheme would be discontinued if the party comes to power. He also criticised AAP for spreading lies that BJP will stop such schemes once comes to power.

"Only when this 'aapda' is gotten rid of in Delhi, the double-engine of development will come in," said Modi.

Highlighting the Centre’s role in developing Delhi, PM Modi said we built highways, expanded the Metro, set up big hospitals and began the Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System in the national capital.

Hitting out at AAP government, Modi said that," the moment you step out of a Metro station, you can see potholed roads, and overflowing sewers."

He added that the people of Delhi want a change and BJP will bring that change.

"The prime minister said when the people of Delhi were grappling with COVID-19, struggling to find oxygen and medicines, the entire focus of the "aapda people" was on building their "Sheesh Mahal".

"They made a huge budget for the 'Sheesh Mahal'. This is their truth... They do not care about the people of Delhi. That is why every Delhiite today is saying... 'we will not tolerate aapda, we will change'," he said.

"Aapda" turned every season into an emergency, with water shortages, waterlogging and pollution, the prime minister alleged.

Meanwhile, hitting back at Modi's remarks, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal said that BJP was seeking votes for Delhi Assembly polls by abusing him. He also added that these projects wouldn’t have been inaugurated has his party not cooperated with the Centre.

"Want to ask PM Modi to speak on unfulfilled promises he made to people in Delhi villages during 2019 polls," said Kejriwal.

"Projects launched by PM joint venture between Delhi govt, Centre; reflects AAP's commitment to city's development," said Kejriwal.
