Modi inaugurates Namo Bharat RRTS: Here's how fast you can travel from Delhi to Meerut on new corridor

For those who travel on a standard coach from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, the fares are pegged at Rs 150 while premium coach costs Rs 225

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the latest phase of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor linking Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut.

The section connecting Meerut South and Sahibabad is already operational. The newly opened section connects Delhi's New Ashok Nagar station to Uttar Pradesh's Sahibabad, which covers 13 km distance. 

This also includes a 6 km underground section, where the major hub of Anand Vihar station is also located. Anand Vihar links the Blue and Pink Lines of the Delhi Metro as well as the railway station and the bus terminal.

During the inauguration of Rs 4,600 crore project, Modi travelled on one of the trains from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar, which covers a distance of 55 km. 

How long does it take to travel from Delhi to Meerut South?

On the RRTS corridor, it takes less than 40 minutes to travel from Delhi to Meerut South, reducing the travel times by a third. Passenger services were operational since 5 pm on Sunday. 

There are a total of 11 stations on the stretch. For those who travel on a standard coach from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South, the fares are pegged at Rs 150 while premium coach costs Rs 225.

The stretch between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot was inaugurated on October 20, 2024. The upcoming stretch between Sarai Kale Khan station and New Ashok Nagar is in the final stage of construction. The fourth station in Delhi called Jungpura will be constructed later along with a stabling yard.

PM Modi also inauguratd the 2.8 km Delhi Metro Phase IV section between Janakpuri and Krishna Park, which is worth Rs 1,200 crore. The Prime Minister also laid the stone for the Delhi Metro Phase IV section between Rithala and Kundli. The 26.5 km section is worth Rs 6,230 crore.

Another project, Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI), at Rohini, New Delhi, was also inaugurated by the PM on Sunday.
