Less than a month after a Bengluru techie died by suicide over wife's harassment, a Gujarat man has killed himself at his home alleging harassment by his estranged wife.

In a video recorded on his phone, Sathadiya was seen asking his family members to "teach his wife a lesson for causing his death". Following this, Sathadiya's father lodged a complaint based on which an FIR was registered against his son's wife.

Sathadiya's father accused his daughter-in-law, Jayaben, of mentally harassing his son. He alleged that the woman often quarrelled with Sathadiya and left their home to be with her parents.

He added that his son went to his in-laws' house to change his wife's mind. However, when she refused, Sathadiya returned home and hanged himself after recording a video.

Police have registered a case against the woman under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita Section 108 (abetment of suicide). The investigation was underway.

This comes less than a month after Bengaluru techie Atul Subhash's died by suicide over alleged harassment by his wife and her family, saying his death was the only way to protect his elderly parents from further exploitation.

Following this, Subhash's wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania and brother Anurag Singhania were arrested. They were granted bail by a session court on January 4. The Supreme Court is set to hear the case on January 7.

Another man, Puneet Khurana, a Delhi-based cafe owner, accused his wife and in-laws of mental torture amid divorce and died by hanging himself on December 31. The 40-year-old alleged that despite meeting the conditions agreed upon at the court, his wife, Manika Pahwa, and her family demanded an additional Rs 10 lakh, which he could not afford. Pahwa also allegedly hacked his social media account to torture him emotionally.
