Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a special Prasar Bharti FM channel called ‘Kumbhvani’ on Friday.
The chief minister said that the channel would take the Mahakumbh to all those who could not come to Prayagraj. He hoped that it would give the audience stories and facts to share with the next generation, about what is being billed as the biggest spiritual confluence. The Kumbhvani was also operational during the 2019 Kumbh held at Prayagraj and before that in 2013.
Available at 103.5MHz, the channel will broadcast daily from January 10 to February 26 between 5.55am to 10.05pm. The programming is a mix of live broadcasts, talk shows and important information. The live broadcasting will include real-time coverage of the major bathing dates, besides reporting from the mela area.
Special cultural presentations will be made through a serial ‘Shiv mahima’, besides programmes on the country’s cultural heritage. There will be two talk shows, one each in the morning and evening; while ‘Hello Doctor’ will allow live health consultations with doctors present at the studio.
There will be special programmes for youth, women and international visitors; besides that, a bunch of practical information on cleanliness, lost and found, dos and don'ts etc.

Adityanath said that the public radio broadcaster, Akashvani, was the country’s first medium to convey folk tradition and folk culture to the common people. He remembered his own listening of the Ramcharitmanas on Akashvani.
He also spoke about the Mahakumbh as a ‘mega event of Sanatan pride and glory’. He said that those who viewed Sanatan from a narrow perspective should come to the event to see how all differences of sect, caste, untouchability and gender were removed at the gathering.
The channel will help understand the spirituality of the Mahakumbh through on-ground reporting integrated with what the religious and spiritual texts said about Sanatan and Kumbh. Such knowledge, the chief minister said, would help carry forth the glory of Sanatan.
