The upcoming Delhi elections are not just being fought with sops and promises but also through creative posters through which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP are slinging dirt at each other.
On Monday, the BJP Delhi unit released a poster portraying AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal as 'Mr India' villain Mogambo, which was played by Amrish Puri.
The caption of the poster read, "Purvanchaliyon se Nafrat ki Aag" (fire of hatred against Purvanchal people). This was a subtle dig at Kejriwal for claiming that some of the voters added to the list are "fake".
BJP slammed the former Delhi chief minister, saying Kejriwal sees those living in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar as fake. It goes on to ask whether the infiltrators from Rohingya and Bangladeshi are his friends.
Clapping back at the BJP, AAP posted a parody video on X with a fictional conversation between Amrish Puri's Diljale character Dara and Home Minister Amit Shah. The caption read that BJP is in a fix as it is bound to be defeated in the elections.
In the video, we can see Amrish Puri mocking the minister for not having a CM in Delhi. "Where is the groom, where is the vision? There are only abuses. Kejriwal has worked for Delhi but you have only given abuses," says the character.
The poster battle has been going on for several days now. AAP took a dig at Ramesh Bidhuri, the saffron party's Kalkaji candidate, depicting him Kalakeya from Bahubali and calling him the CM candidate of a "foul-mouthed party".
The BJP hit back at AAP, calling Kejriwal the AAP-da-e-aazam from Sheeshmahal. It was referring to the expensive renovations of his residence. The term, AAP-da (disaster), was coined by BJP, in a jab at Delhi's ruling party.
Another poster by BJP mocked Kejriwal, showing him wearing a crown and holding a glass of liquor with an alcohol bottle in his pocket. This was a subtle dig on the former Delhi CM's resignation over the liquor policy case. It also showed Delhi pollution, Yamuna toxic foam and flooding.
The caption said that "AAP-da gang" destroyed Delhi and the people will not tolerate it.
AAP posted another poster slamming both the BJP and the Congress, showing Congress leaders Alka Lamba, Ajay Maken and Sandeep Dikshit as pawns in Amit Shah's chess game.
